I recently attended a film camera session with the Ipswich Photography Group, led by Allen Blasdell, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The session struck a great balance between learning and simply getting out there to shoot. Allen was an engaging and knowledgeable leader, sharing useful insights into shooting with film, from camera handling to thinking more deliberately about composition and exposure. One of the highlights was the chance to walk around Ipswich with the group. Shooting on film encourages you to slow down and really consider each frame, which made the whole experience feel more intentional and rewarding. Overall, it was a relaxed, friendly session where I picked up new skills and enjoyed connecting with others who share an interest in photography. I?d definitely recommend it to anyone curious about film and photography.

I recently attended a Saturday morning landscape workshop at Pin Mill, Suffolk with the Ipswich Photography Group, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The session was incredibly well run, with plenty of knowledge shared throughout the morning. The group was friendly and supportive, and there was a real sense of enthusiasm for photography. What stood out most was the amount of practical advice given while we were out everything from composition tips to camera settings and creative approaches. It made a big difference being able to learn in the moment while actually taking photos in such a beautiful location. I had a great time and I?m especially looking forward to getting my film photos back from the developers to see how they turned out. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable and worthwhile workshop. I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in improving their landscape photography skills.

It was a really interesting event. I didn't appreciate the influence that a flash would have on daylight photography. Allen gave us examples in different locations which was really useful.
